Submission Guidelines

If we have requested a full manuscript from you, please follow the submission guidelines below. Here are some quick tips to get your query read by the team:

  • At this time, we are only considering books with 40,000 or more words.

  • We will not read submissions that are attached to an email. Your submission must be in the body of the email.

  • Do not send a full manuscript unless requested.

  • If your book has been published before, please let us know in your query letter.

  • Please don't email us more than once. If you don't receive the Auto Reply, please email info@crazednovelist.com and we'll check into the situation.

What to include in your submission: In order for us to consider your book, please paste the following in the email body of your submission:

  • Query letter (1-page, single-spaced) - be sure to include word count, genre, contact information, and bio

  • Synopsis (1-page, single-spaced)

  • Sample (up to 10 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font)

Genres we're not looking for: We love so many different genres (fiction and nonfiction) that it would be easier to tell you what we don't want at this time. We are currently not considering the following:

  • AI-generated books

  • children's picture books

  • cookbooks

  • gameLit RPG

  • Illustrated books or books reliant on illustrations, images, or photographs (when in doubt, email us and we can discuss)

  • poetry

  • short story collections

If your genre is not listed above, feel free to send your book to us. Remember: only books 40,000 words or longer.

Where to send queries: Email your query, along with your synopsis and sample, to info@crazednovelist.com.

FAQs

Will My Book Be Distributed to Retailers?

CrazedNovelist Books distributes through Ingram, the largest wholesaler in the United States. Your book will be available major retailers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble, libraries, and independent bookstores through Ingram's wholesaler marketplace.

Will I Have to Pay for Production Costs?

Never. CrazedNovelist Books is a royalty-paying, traditional publishing house. We do not charge for production.

A.E. Williams Editorial, our editorial firm, offers services to self-publishing authors and publishing houses.

Who decides what books will be published?

All books are considered by the acquisitions team made up of the publisher, editors, and marketing team members.

How long after submission of my manuscript will it take to hear back from you?

While we try to read every submission as quickly as we can, it could take up one to four months to read your full manuscript submission.

Will you publicize my book?

Absolutely. Our marketing team will discuss strategies with you before editorial work begins through publication day and afterward.

So the author can kick back and the company will do it all?

Authors who do not assist in their own publicity will not be as successful. Each author should be participating in the promotion of themselves and their work. We will not sign authors are unwilling or unable to do this important part of selling the book.

If my book is not chosen for publication, can I schedule it for editing on your editing site?

You may hire and outside editor to help you if we request a revision before you resubmit your book OR prior to submitting to us. To avoid conflicting interests, we will decline to edit a work we have once considered for publication. We're happy to refer you to others should that situation arise.

Current and former clients of A.E. Williams Editorial are more than welcome to submit their book for publication, but only if the work in question has not already been edited by the team.
